Janetta is registered at the SA Library as a poet and has 10 printed anthologies. She writes under the name “Saphira”. She gives talks at schools, churches and women’s organizations, mostly about how she copes with her blindness, for instance doing her shopping, organizing her closet and cooking. She lives on her own, does her own shopping and even travels alone by train to the Cape to visit her mother. She takes local taxis to get her to wherever she wants to go. She is a remarkable woman who touches people’s lives through her passion and energy.
